Current Projects

Due to the fact that NZRA has been such a regular submitter to DoC and other Government department consultations, we have been increasingly consulted by various arms of government on the formulation of plans and policies, outside and before the usual public consultation processes.

NZRA contributes regularly during public consultation when DoC is formulating National Park Management Plans and wider Conservation Management Strategies.

This Bill, proposed by an Opposition MP, was drawn from the members ballot and it sought to define 'Community Associations' under the HSW Act as those that employ people up to 100 hours per week in total.

It has long been a source of frustration, time-consumption and cost for many NZRA members that they are required to obtain and pay for costly DoC concessions to provide Outdoor Education opportunities.

The Health and Safety at Work Act of 2015 did nothing to alleviate the problem of land owners and managers denying recreational access due to perceived risk and liabilities. In fact, it may have even made the problem worse.
